DescriptionLeeds Business School and the Centre for Social Justice in Sport and Society at Leeds Beckett University invite colleagues and practitioners across sport, governance, policy and research to join a one-day symposium exploring disability inclusion within sporting workforces and leadership structures. Taking place on Wednesday 3 June 2026 at the Rose Bowl, Leeds Beckett University, this one-day event brings together leaders from sport organisations, governing bodies, advocacy groups and academia to explore how the sector can strengthen disability inclusion across its workforce and leadership structures. Hosted by the Centre for Social Justice in Sport and Society, the summit draws on research examining the lived experiences of disabled professionals working across managerial and governance roles within sport. The event will also introduce the Centre’s Belonging in Sport Framework, supporting organisations in creating environments where disabled staff feel valued and supported. Further details and registration information will be circulated shortly. We look forward to welcoming colleagues from across the sport sector to Leeds for what promises to be an engaging and impactful day focused on strengthening disability inclusion across sporting workforces and leadership structures.

More InformationAcross the UK, disabled people remain significantly under-represented within the sport workforce. Current sector data suggests that disabled people make up around 13% of the sport and physical activity workforce, compared with 23% of working-age adults across the wider UK population. This gap highlights a clear opportunity for sport organisations to strengthen recruitment pathways, leadership development and workplace cultures. What to expect
