The government's chief construction adviser Paul Morrell has indicated that BIM will become a key part of the government's procurement of public buildings and that bidders and contractors on future public building projects would be expected to implement it on all future projects.

Adopting an industry-wide BIM process is likely to reveal a significant learning gap in many companies with people left wondering how to implement this into their own practice. In response to this Leeds Beckett University has set up our Think BIM Network to provide support and information to enable the smooth transition towards the use of BIM in projects.

With the government demanding Level 2 BIM by 2016 there is a real impetus for change. What exactly is meant by Level 2 BIM and how can we as a sector rise to the challenge of meeting such a target? The thinkBIM Autumn series will attempt to answer these questions with high profile keynote speakers at the initial launch event  to stimulate debate and provide information regarding becoming BIM enabled.
